Enjoying the Learning Experiences

me12 million people have a food related allergy? How is that even possible? Food allergies are on the rise and are becoming more and more prevalent? Why didn’t anyone tell me? Have I been living under a rock this entire time?

Hello everyone, my name is Diana and I am a newbie at Enjoy Life Foods for the marketing department. I came in knowing NOTHING about the complex world of food allergies and intolerances. I thought sharing my favorite trail mix full of peanuts, almonds, chocolate and various other goodies with everyone around me was no big deal. Never did it occur to me that people with soy, diary and nut/tree nut allergies would have to steer clear while I enjoyed my favorite snack!

Becoming an ELFer has definitely been an eye opening experience for me. While sharing my new knowledge with friends and family, I learned that my aunt has been gluten-free for many years–something I never seemed to notice! A friend of mine is severely allergic to fish, but can enjoy a delicious lobster tail anytime. Now I am beginning to wonder if I myself have any food allergies that I have been unaware of. Maybe those headaches and stomachaches I sometimes get aren’t the normal effects of eating certain foods? All I know is that I have my appointment set to see an allergist next week!

CIMG6878In the short amount of time that I have been working for Enjoy Life, I have had the pleasure of experiencing many firsts. Last week we held a photo shoot for our new and improved snack bars! It was so cool to see the photographer set up shop with all sorts of lighting, umbrellas, props, and tools to make the snack bars photo ready. Picking out the best sunflower kernels out of hundreds, the best raspberries and the most delectable chocolate chunks for the photo shoot was only half the fun! Providing input on how to position the bars with their props and then watching the photo come to life on the computer screen was truly an experience. Although I could have never foreseen that getting four PERFECT shots would have taken about 8 hours and over 300+ different pictures, I have a newfound appreciation of the hard, but fun work, that a food photographer goes through to get that perfect image that ends up on the front of packages!

Well, I’m off to continue to be part of the exciting world of an ELFer! Happy Holidays!

    Hi Diana,

I just wanted to say welcome and thank you for your post. I am new to Enjoy Life as a consumer and have recently been dragged kicking and screaming into the world of food allergies after my 2 year old and 7 year old were diagnosed with multiple food allergies including but not limited to: soy beans, milk, chocolate, corn, pork, beef, wheat, shellfish, eggs and dairy. I stumbled across Enjoy Life cookies in an effort to find a convenient snack for them. I was amazed that they had a few varieties that were okay for them. I quickly looked up the other products and have also tried the bagels. I really appreciate Enjoy Life making finding food that my kids can actually eat a little bit easier. Again, welcome and Happy Holidays!

Welcome to ELF Diana. It is a wonder to me about how many people still need to be educated about FAs and how so many people go day to day without even knowing that they have a FA. I am allergic to soy, wheat, gluten, nuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, modified food starch, and buckwheat. ELF has been a true lifesaver and your customer service is awesome! Thank you for all that ELF continues to do for people with FAs and sinsitivities. Happy Holidays!
